What kind of computer do I need?

The computer you need depends on the type of games you want to play and the amount of money you want to spend. Here are the recommended, minimum computer specs for attending LanBattle

Ø      300mhz - Pentium Class PC

Ø      64mb RAM

Ø      Sound card

Ø      100mb Ethernet network card

Ø      Your own monitor

 

If you are in need of a new or just need to upgrade your computer you can pre order a system from ACS that would be perfect for LanBattle all they require is that it would be ordered prior to 2 weeks before the event.

 

How do I setup my computer for the network?

Windows 9x Users:

Click: "Start", "Settings", "Control Panel"

Double-click "Network"

Click: "Add"

Select "Protocol", click "Add"

In the left pane select "Microsoft"

In the right pane select "TCP/IP"

Click "OK"

Select the TCP/IP for your Network card and click "Properties"

Select the "IP Address" tab

Click: "Obtain an IP Address Automatically"

Click: "OK"

If available, select "File and Printer sharing for Microsoft Networks" and click "Remove". **Note: File sharing must be turned off during tournaments. You will be disqualified from the tournament if your File Sharing is on.

Click "OK" and reboot your PC

 

Windows 2000 Users:

Click: "Start", "Settings", "Control Panel"

Double-click "Network and Dial-up Connections"

Right-click: "Local Area Network"

Double-click: "TCP/IP"

Click: "Obtain an IP Address Automatically"

Click: "OK"

Click: "OK"

 

Windows XP Users:

      Click: "Start", "Control Panel"

Double-click "Network  Connections"

Double-click "Local Area Connection" 

Click: "Properties"

Double-click: "TCP/IP"

Click: "Obtain an IP Address Automatically"

Click: "OK"
